A column is a regularly appearing article or opinion piece written by the same author, traditionally found in newspapers and magazines. Nowadays, columns could and do appear in websites, as well. The media gives the author a platform to share their opinion, and therefore, a column, most often than not, reflects the author’s personal views, expertise, or commentary on a specific topic.
Columnists (the authors that write columns) usually comment on current events, social issues, culture, or specialized subjects.
