Gender Segmentation

Gender segmentation is the division of a market into distinct groups based on the gender of the consumer. Historically, this method has been used primarily for clothing, cosmetics, toiletries, and magazines.

While gender segmentation can be effective for certain product categories, marketers should be careful not to use it for products for which gender differences are not significant. Modern marketing often looks for deeper psychographic and behavioral differences that go beyond simple gender differentiation.
