Marketing Channel Design

Marketing channel design is the process of creating effective marketing channels. This process is carried out by analyzing consumer needs, setting channel objectives, identifying the main channel alternatives (e.g., direct, indirect), and evaluating these alternatives.

Strategic decisions in design include choosing the type of distribution (intensive, selective, exclusive), the number of intermediaries, and the types of organizations in the channel. The goal is to achieve an optimal balance between channel costs and the level of customer service.
