The press/media page is a useful page that is usually present on websites of larger businesses/sites. Usually, press releases, contact information and the so-called media kit – usually the logo and recommendations for its use – are placed there.
Press releases
Press releases are important for large businesses, as well as for businesses in important industries. Such industries are legal, financial, medical, for example. Of course, the presence of press releases (in case everything else is available) could increase the credibility of your company. Therefore, you can maintain such a section without really needing it.
Press releases should be written short, concise and clear. They usually present important information (news) for the company and/or industry.
Contact Information
Of course, if you want the media to contact you, you should provide them with clear information on how they can do so. Therefore, the presence of contact information or a button on your contact page can be considered mandatory. If you have a specific person who is responsible for the media, add their name.
Media Mentions
If your company has been mentioned by (serious) media that is worth sharing, do it (and) on this page. This will give smaller media an incentive to write about you, and it will inspire other larger ones with confidence in you, your business and your brand.
Media Kit
The media kit is provided for free access, so that small and large media can write and talk about you without the need for direct contact. This, theoretically, increases the possibility of your company being written by various media outlets*.
* In this article, the word “media” is used as loosely as possible. I include not only our classic perception of media – news sites, but all the newly emerged aggregators, personal blogs, small news sites, niche sites, etc.
The media kit should contain logos, screenshots (with important data), photos of your employees (at least the key ones, your spokespeople).
Visibility
Your media page should be accessible. But you don’t have to put it in the main navigation. A link to the press page could be placed on the “About Us” page, as well as in the footer of your site.
Brief about the company
On the page itself, you could briefly tell about the company and the industry. The information here should really be short and concise. You could also add a link to an “About Us” page for the more inquisitive users.
Add information about the year of foundation, number of employees, who the leading people in the company are, number of clients and countries in which you operate (if applicable).
Search Engine
If you have a large amount of press releases, you can also add a search engine.
