Product Line

A product line is a group of products that are closely related because: 1) They function in a similar way; 2) They are sold to the same customer groups; 3) They are marketed through the same types of channels; or 4) They fall within certain price ranges.

Product line decisions include line length (number of items) and line expansion (up, down, or both). Product line management aims to maximize the overall profitability of all items in the line.
