Registration

The registration page, like all other pages on your site, can serve to persuade and influence users. Of course, this page also needs a certain number of mandatory details, through which you will help people in their orientation and actions.

These details are:

Logo

It is extremely important that your customers recognize your brand from every page, including the registration page. The easiest way to achieve this effect is to add your logo.

Title

Each page should have a title that serves to explain to users where they are on your site and what they can do. The registration page is no exception.

Description

Describe the main advantages of having a person registered in your system. Build the right expectations for what users can get.

Account identification

Account identification can be done via email, customer number, phone number, personal identification number, as well as a username. If you decide to have people have a username in your system (for example, when building an online forum), it must be linked to another form of identification. For this purpose, email is most often used. It will serve to recover a password or in case you want to send a letter to your users.

Choosing a password

A password is a secure, personal code (a series of characters) that allows the user to access their account. Best practices for password fields are:

  • Add a password strength indicator
  • Add password requirements (number and type of characters)
  • Add a button that allows people to make their password visible to make sure they typed what they wanted.

Link to login page

Adding a link to the login page is a good idea on the registration page, as people often confuse the two. Adding a link to the registration form with the words “Already have an account? Login.” would greatly improve the user experience.

Third-party sign-up (optional)

For online users, especially more active ones, it is much easier to click a button and automatically sign up with Facebook, Google, or another third-party. If you want, you could also add this option.

Current number of active customers (optional)

It is extremely important that your service inspires trust in people. While you are still building a name for your brand, and later on, a great help in building trust is to demonstrate the number of already active registrations. Show how many people are already successfully using your product, thus instilling not only trust in your potential customers, but also the so-called FOMO (fear of missing out), which is often a strong motivator for action.

Testimonials

Testimonials from your satisfied customers are another way to convince those who are still hesitant. In addition, you could pull quotes from other sites or media, in which your product is presented in a positive light. This also increases trust.

Billing and grace period

As you know from our pricing page, billing and grace period, in cases where registration is tied to payments, is an absolutely mandatory requirement for your site. People need to be aware of how much, when and how they will have to pay.
