Selective Distribution

Selective distribution is a channel coverage strategy in which the manufacturer uses more than one, but fewer than all, intermediaries who are willing to sell its products.

This strategy is suitable for shopping products that customers compare before purchasing. The advantage is that it gives the manufacturer better control over marketing and lower costs than intensive distribution, while still providing adequate market coverage.
