A campaign is a unifying term, referring to a coordinated series of messages, actions, or events designed to achieve a specific communication goal. Campaigns are usually trying to reach a specific targeted audience to raise awareness, change behavior, promote a product, or influence public opinion. A key element of a campaign is the fact that it has a defined period of time.

Naturally, there are multiple types of communication campaigns, such as:

  • Advertising campaigns (to sell products or services)
  • Political campaigns (to win elections or support policies)
  • Public relations campaigns (to manage reputation or image)
  • Social or public health campaigns (to inform or change behavior, e.g., anti-smoking)

Campaigns could use one or multiple media such as TV, Radio, Internet.
