Ethnography is a term that refers to the detailed and complete account of the structure and function of all aspects of a culture. Ethnography is the outcome of a process of systematically observing a culture, describing, documenting, and analyzing the findings.
The purpose of ethnography is to understand the social practices, rituals, beliefs, and interactions of a community or group from an insider’s perspective. Therefore, such research could derive how people make meaning of their lives and environment, and document the cultural patterns, norms, and values.
For example, an anthropologist lives in a remote village for several months to study the community’s farming rituals, family dynamics, and social ceremonies, writing a detailed report that captures their everyday life and worldview.
