A celebrity is an individual who is widely recognized. Celebrities usually gain a lot of attention and influence through mass media exposure in fields like entertainment, sports, politics, or social media.

Actors, sportsmen, singers, writers, but also some entrepreneurs and even scientists, could be considered celebrities.

With the rise of social media and the emergence of so-called influencers, professional communicators and researchers in the field have recognized the concept of the micro-celebrity.

Micro-celebrities are not widely recognized by the general public, but they are influential within their niche communities.
